“SLSG is special to me in many ways. I have been a part of this club since I was 8 years old. I have gotten the chance to be coached by the best and to be able to train with the best. SLSG is the best club in the area and being a part of SLSG makes me feel proud; especially since everyone wants to beat the best. Not only do I look at my teammates as family, but the whole Gallagher Club is a family.

“I know you need everyone on the team to play their best to win. If you lose, it is never just one player’s fault. You win as team and lose as a team. I have always represented the club the best I can. I play hard and I am proud to where the SLSG uniform. I have always played for Scott Gallagher and the Soccer Park is like a second home. I feel like everyone there is family. Everyone knows me and I know him or her.”

“This scholarship would be a great help to me and my family. I think this scholarship is great not just for me but for all the other kids that are talented but their families don’t necessarily have the money to pay. Scott Gallagher is more than just a club; it’s a family that’s always there for you. It’s a club that lets you enjoy yourself as a player on the pitch. A club that’s passionate for soccer as much as I am is what makes this club so special.”

“You have to respect your coaches and your teammates. I plan to be the best soccer player I can so the younger kids look up to me. One time I stood up for my friend when he was bullied in school. I should always stand up for my beliefs and my friends. It’s the right thing to do.”

“I’m always looking forward to my practices and games. I enjoy watching older kids and professional soccer and to see what levels I might be at one day. New experiences will help me improve as a goalie. I like the commitment and support the club gives to me to better myself as a player and a individual.”

“My husband’s greatest fear is that his death would be an excuse for them not to work hard. For them to be victims, and look for special treatment. But they haven’t done that. They moved to Illinois, made friends, worked hard at school, and drive 2 hours to soccer practice. We’ve come such a long way…and we have a long way to go.

Before I would never ask for help. Now we, as a family, understand the gift accepting help. It’s simple. This club saved my boys by giving them a place. And the coaches have been incredible mentors, and teammates have been incredible friends and supporters.”
