SLSG ECNL-RL Missouri October Recap

St. Louis, MO - The St. Louis Scott Gallagher (SLSG) ECNL RL Missouri Program wrapped up October, arguably the most hectic, and most successful month of the season. With an overall record of 12-4-1 (W-L-T) totaling 37 points, the players and staff had much to smile about and celebrate.

The HS aged teams “kicked off” October by participating in first ever RL Regional Showcase at Rockford, IL. In true ECNL fashion, the league put on a great event. The atmosphere, fields, and competition all supported the hype that the players were anticipating since the events announcement last Spring. RL Director Maggie Richard was really pleased with the standard set for the first ever event. “Our teams competed and showcased themselves to several college coaches that attended the event. We couldn’t be more excited for the future events of the ECNL Regional League.”

On the 10th of October, the entire RL - MO program had a fantastic set of games scheduled in Rantoul IL. Steve Pecher, RL’s youngers coach, was incredibly pleased with the overall performance of the six teams. “It’s about this time of year that our players start to show some fatigue, there are other types of commitments that pull kids away from games, and little injuries start to creep into the mix because of the weight of the competition the girls are participating in each weekend. So, for us to go on the road and perform excellent at all six ages is impressive and we are really proud of the girls.”

The following weekend, (Oct 15-17) RL 07 thru 03 began its quest for the Missouri State Cup, hosted at the Creve Couer Soccer Complex. Again, the performances / results on the weekend supported the “successful” month. Some of the finishes? Well, the 07s had a fantastic run all the way to the final where they ran into and even hotter MO Rush RL squad. And the talk of the town turned out to be the U19 SLSG 03’s, who finished bracket play with three well deserved wins. This placed them in the final as well, where they met the talented SLSG Bayern Munich team coached by Tony Kuster. After a very back and forth hard-fought battle between the two teams, the SLSG 03s were crowned state champs! Richard, again, could not say enough about the performance of the team. “I couldn’t be prouder! In the buildup to the Cup, every time the team stepped on the field, the girls showed that they were playing for one another, I really do feel this is a special ‘team’. Again, I couldn’t be prouder of this group.” The win places SLSG 03s in the Regionals that will take place in June in Indiana.

And finally, to close out the month of October, the RL teams hosted there last set of home matches for the 2021-2022 ECNL Regional League season. The games, hosted at Soccer Park in Fenton, were against two competitive clubs; Rockford Raptors RL and FC Wisconsin RL. It turned out to be an explosion of offense for SLSG, boasting a total of of 14 goals that day that resulted in 11 points for the program. The next day was much the same, knocking another 14 goals into the net and earning a “sweep” on the day. Lauren Nuelle, RL-MO Staff coach was incredibly impressed with the teams on the weekend. “The SLSG ECNL RL teams overall went 8-2-1 (W-L-T) for the weekend, which is an awesome record, but more importantly, from my perspective, I was really pleased with how the teams shared the ball and enjoyed each other success around the goal. It’s always just a little more fun to be on the field when the teams are unselfish and working hard for each other.”

RL – MO & RL – IL are both entering the “Showcase Phase” of its seasons. The programs will be hosting college coaches at training as well as participating in local and national showcases.

By David Vedder 11 May, 2022
Saint Louis - The Saint Louis Scott Gallagher Girls Division is excited to begin announcing its Director, Coaching, and Administrative line up for the 2022-23 season. “Our Club Mission is unwavering, To Be the Best Club in the Country.” stated SLSG Girls Program Director Scott McDoniel. “And in order to effectively continue striving for this mission, SLSG Leadership has understood for some time that our teachers/coaches play a major role in helping us achieve this status.” The Girls Division plans to release the staffing announcements in phases, and in no particular order, throughout the month of May. The first platform to be highlighted is the Missouri Girls Youth Academy Staff (IL YA Staff to be announced soon!). “The MO Youth Academy Program consists of Elite and Premier Level Teams from the ages U9-U12” said Youth Academy Director Sterling Wescott. “We are incredibly proud of all our teams in the Junior Division [U6-U12], and over the years as the club has evolved and tiers have naturally been created, the Youth Academy Program has grown into a very high level and developmentally centric environment. There are two new additions to the Youth Academy Staff this year. 30-year coaching veteran and club favorite, Steve Pecher. Steve, in addition to working in the ECNL-RL Program, will be stepping into the U9 age group to be the lead voice for our 2014 Elite Navy Team. He will be joined by one of the club's up and coming superstar coaches, Lauren Nuelle. Lauren has been a full-time member of the staff for the past four years but has been coaching in the club even before graduating from Webster University in 2018. Lauren has worked with all ages in the club, most recently working inside our ECNL - Regional League platform. Pecher, who has an overwhelmingly successful playing and coaching resume, is excited to work with “the future” talent of the girl's program. “I have always enjoyed working with the young ages. I love helping to instill basic, but important, skill sets that they will need to be successful in the game, especially in this club. And also, I believe Lauren, who is talented at training soccer technique will be a great compliment to the U9 age group.” Youth Academy Director - Sterling Wescott U12 - 2011 Elite Navy - Carlton Williams, Sterling Wescott U12 - 2011 Elite Green - Carlton Williams, Sterling Wescott, Jesse Finney U12 - 2011 Premier Navy - Scott Nelson, Ryan Moon U12 - 2011 Premier Green - Bill Rombach, Megan Roth U12 - 2011 Premier White - Pat Barry, TBD U11 - 2012 Elite Navy - Sterling Wescott, Carlton Williams U11 - 2012 Elite Green - Sterling Wescott, Calton Williams U11 - 2012 Premier Navy - Larry Hulcer, Carli Bond U11 - 2012 Premier Green - Scott Nelson, Laura Stroot U10 - 2013 Elite Navy - Carlton William, Sterling Wescott, Carli Bond U10 - 2013 Elite Green - TBD U9 - 2014 Elite Navy - Steve Pecher - Lauren Nuelle U9 - 2014 Elite Green - Lauren Nuelle
